Cathe Live: 2014 Roadtrip All Step

Cathe Live Review: 2014 Roadtrip All Step (#13)

2014 Roadtrip All Step is an excellent, high energy cardio step & interval workout. This is a really fun routine that’s packed with variety and will definitely get that heart rate up and you breathing harder.

This routine was filmed as part of the Glassboro 2014 Roadtrip so the class is absolutely packed full of people.

The workout starts with a long step combo that’s very reminiscent of Cathe’s Step Jump & Pump DVD – the first step combo. So if you are familiar with that one - this will be very easy to pick up. You start with some warm-up type moves and then build the combo up slowly, repeating each part several times before adding on something else. So you have time to learn it. It is a little more dancey though than some of her step so if you aren’t familiar with her step choreography this may take a little patience but it is definitely not the most complex choreography. The only problem you might have is that during this and also later in the workout the camera is not always focused on Cathe, which is extremely frustrating for a choreographed class, particularly when the other participants are not always familiar with the moves either. Having a list of the blasts may be useful here as sometimes Cathe starts a blast and you can’t actually see her…

Once you have repeated the final combo, a few times, you then move into the intervals, which is the main part of the workout. There are 12 step blasts. Each blast is repeated a set number of times before a quick water break and moving onto the next one. The blasts are not choreographed but just straight forward intervals of a few moves combined together. These will definitely get you breathing harder and feeling the work. I really enjoyed this section and was pretty drenched by the end.

The workout ends with repeating the step combo from the first section a few times, adding a couple of other moves and then going into the cool down.

Overall, this was a fantastic cardio workout that involves a little bit of step choreography and a high impact interval section, to really get you moving and that heart pumping. I really enjoyed this workout and will definitely be returning to it whenever I need a good cardio challenge.

The Workout

2014 Roadtrip All Step is a cardio step and interval workout consisting of one long step combo and twelve interval blasts. Cathe used a full size step with one riser on each side. You can always increase the step height, if you want more of a challenge.

What you need to know: Instructor: Cathe Friedrich. Length: 38 mins. Equipment needed: Full size step with one riser on each side. Fun Factor: 4/5. Sweat Factor: 4/5. Coordination: 3/5

The Moves

2014 Roadtrip All Step is 46 minutes long and originally aired on 26th July 2014 (#13). Fun, sweaty, without being dancy. I learned a new move. Lots of impact but modifiable.
